"Honesty, Skill, Integrity, Respect....

Important in Golf, Just as Important in Real Estate"

Don Summers is a full-service REALTOR with ResortQuest Real Estate--located in the landmark Sunrise Building on Country Club Drive in Palm Desert.  Don recently earned his broker's license and represents ResortQuest as a Broker-Associate.  Summers is a member of the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce and has been recognized in "Who's Who in Real Estate" by The Desert Sun every 6 months since 2001.  He is an avid golfer and carries an 11 handicap.

Don represents both Buyers and Sellers in our complex desert real estate market.  (He is knowledgeable about most of the upscale developments in the entire desert area--does not limit his expertise to one neighborhood or community.)  He specializes in country club properties as well as gated residential developments, active senior communities, and estate-quality homes.  He has extensive experience with 1031 tax-deferred exchanges.  As an example, Don has been quite successful in locating quality vacation homes for investors looking for an enjoyable desert lifestyle experience and for solid income from a seasonal vacation rental program.  Sellers trust Don for accurate market valuations of their property and for a comprehensive and aggressive marketing campaign designed to maximize the selling price of their homes.

Don believes that there are three significant trends influencing the business of real estate today.  1.  Technology.  Technology is providing increasingly essential tools in the marketing of properties and the development and service of client relationships.  2.  Limited Supply.  Inventory has increased slightly over the summer but there is still a limited supply of quality real property available for sale in the desert.  Combined with an increasing demand for the desert lifestyle, prices continue to rise.  3.  Interest rates.  Mortgage rates for primary and second homes remain low, even in the face of an expanding economy and increased government borrowing.  Even though interest rates should gradually rise of the course of the next 6 months, many exceptional plans and rates continue to remain available.

Don and his wife Ann moved to Palm Desert from Seattle at the end of 1999.  There he had been a ski professional, entrepreneur and business consultant before entering the field of real estate.  He is best known in the Pacific Northwest as the founding director of a large ski school, as founder of a thriving foundation, and as President/CEO of several successful start-up companies.  He formed the Snoqualmie Ski School which grew to become the 8th largest in the country under his direction.  The SKIFORALL Foundation is now in its 25th year of service to the Northwest disabled community and continues to grow, providing outdoor recreational experiences for hundreds of people with disabilities.

Two of his start-up companies grew to become international distributors of unique product lines: Zoo Shoes, Inc. and Seattle Apparel.  His business consultancy provided client companies with market analysis, sales and marketing management, strategic planning and negotiation, product sourcing, and organizational development services.  These experiences and skills help him today in the marketing of real property and with effective representation of his clients.
